Attorney Richard D. Lloyd graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1973 with a Bachelor of Engineering. After graduation, Mr. Lloyd was employed as a nuclear engineer with EBASCO Services, Inc. in New York City and then as a Nuclear Insurance Broker and Consultant with Marsh & McLennan, Inc. in New York City. In 1980, Mr. Lloyd graduated with a Juris Doctorate from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago-Kent College of Law in Chicago. After admission to the Illinois State Bar in October 1980, he began practicing law with Bishop, Liberman & Cook in their offices in Washington, D.C. and New York City. In 1985, Mr. Lloyd was admitted to the New York Bar. In June of 1985, Mr. Lloyd worked as a lobbyist for a major nuclear utility in Washington, D.C. Mr. Lloyd was admitted to the District of Columbia Bar in 1987, the Maryland Bar in 1988 and the U.S. District Court for Maryland in 1989.  In 1989 Mr. Lloyd began practicing law in Prince Frederick, Maryland.

In June 1996, Richard Lloyd opened his solo practice in Prince Frederick, Maryland, and began providing quality and affordable legal services. He is currently a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Maryland State Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association, and the Calvert County Bar Association. Mr. Lloyd is a past president of the Calvert County Bar Association.  He is a past board member of the Calvert County Day Care, Inc., Friends of Calvert Cliffs State Park, the Dunkirk Area Citizens Association, Calvert County Hospice, Calvert County Habitat for Humanity  and the Calvert County Economic Roundtable. Mr. Lloyd has volunteered as a Mock Trial attorney coach for Patuxent and Calvert High Schools, as well as a junior varsity coach for the Calvert County Lacrosse Club. He is an Eagle Scout, and is a prior District Chairman for the Boy Scouts of America.

Mr. Lloyd often provides lectures on matters involving probate, estates and trusts for the Calvert County Department of Aging. He is also a court appointed attorney for representation of children and disabled persons in custody and guardianship matters.
